Artefacts, base de données collaborative en ligne des objets archéologiques : introspection d’un projet d’archéologie participative

The Artefacts project, a CNRS collaborative database launched in 2008, brings together professional archaeologists and amateurs to collect and organise data on archaeological objects. In this symposium, the administrators will try to assess the involvement of amateurs, their motivations and the challenges they face in producing documentation that meets scientific standards. These difficulties, often linked to a lack of academic training, are not exclusive to amateurs, but can also affect students and non-specialist archaeologists. This article examines the conditions for success in this complex collaboration, highlighting the importance of supporting contributors and managing errors within the Artefacts database, a time-consuming task for volunteer administrators. The aim is to identify needs and solutions to improve this interaction.
