Add to the calendarX-ray tomography applied to battery materials
The efficient storage of electricity could help us to solve important current problems.
Over the last five years, the scientific community seems to have begun to understand this simple, short, yet direct observation. As a result, the number of studies into electricity storage has exploded over the last period. The storage of electricity in electrochemical devices such as batteries, for example, is a viable solution and has therefore become a fast-growing research topic. Standard materials science tools, which relate the microstructure of electrode materials to their electrical properties, have recently been used to better optimise storage properties.
This talk will summarise some recent experiments using X-ray tomography to observe the evolution of electrode microstructure during the electrical charge/discharge of batteries.
It will show how the tools we all have patiently developed for experimental mechanics can be used in a different context.
