Comparison of FE-based DVC and Integrated DVC for LEFM parameter calibration
Publié le - Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics
In the present work, the mechanical response of a 3D printed CT specimen made of Polycarbonate was studied when subjected to an opening loading. Kinematic fields were first measured via Finite Element based Digital Volume Correlation (FE-based DVC) and then via Integrated DVC (I-DVC) using Williams’ series as measurement basis. Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics parameters were extracted from the measured FE-based DVC displacement fields using William’s series and directly within the I-DVC procedure. Both procedures were then compared against each other. I-DVC proved to be more accurate as well as computationally less intensive. The impact of the choice of the regularization length on LEFM parameters measurement accuracy was also assessed.
